Head Start is a nationwide preschool program for children of income-eligible families. Head Start centers are run throughout the country by local nonprofit organizations, school districts, colleges and universities.* Applications accepted for 3 and 4 year olds.* Families whose income is below poverty guidelines.* Children with special needs or who are at high risk.***Accept limited number of over income children with special needs.***Children assisted with medical, dental, educational and social service needs.Services are free. Need verification of income, child’s birth certificate, immunization records. Assists and support families with life’s challenges through quality education and family focused services. Head Start accepts children from low income families, ages 3-5 years, and offers a four day week program, 16 hours per week. Each day 2 meals are provided to the children. Parents are encouraged to volunteer. Also assists families in the area of education by offering positive parenting classes. One way transportation is provided.
