Community Cancer Services is the home of Heather’s House. Their goal involves working together to help community members on their cancer journey. Community Cancer Services welcomes volunteers with a passion and desire to help provide financial, emotional, and social support services to local cancer patients, families, and caregivers.
Heather’s House serves Bonner and Boundary counties in north Idaho through information, advocacy, and direct services.
Financial Assistance
Financial assistance may be available to help with lodging during treatment, insurance co-pays, prescriptions, medical equipment and goods, gas vouchers, and more. Clients may receive non-perishable foods, bottled water, journals, and other needed items during visits.
Durable Medical Equipment
Heather’s House may be able to provide gifted or loaned medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, shower chairs, lift chairs, and more.
Library
Laney’s Library contains many resources on different types of cancers and treatments. The library also has information on family support and wellness, as well as fun books to enjoy during treatment and recovery.
Boutique
The Community Cancer Services boutique includes wigs, hats, scarves, post-mastectomy products and more for treatment period and beyond.
Counseling
Individual and group support counseling is available through Community Cancer Services. This includes counseling for patient, survivors, family members, and caregivers.
Currently, group counseling sessions are available twice monthly at the Sandpoint, ID office. Please call 208-255-2301 for more information about counseling.
Advocacy and resources
The Community Cancer Center provides a network of local and national resources for patients, families, and caregivers. The volunteer staff of Heather’s House include social workers, nurses, beauty and wellness professionals, counselors, and support staff. They can connect you with medical or hospice care, wellness retreats, legal help groups, and more.
